Okay, so it’s resolution time! Have you set any? Or are you slightly irritated by the yearly trend to get fit, give up smoking, lose weight, and stay sober at all costs?
I must admit that I fall into the second category – being bombarded by emails and Facebook updates demanding that I mend my ways sends me rebelliously reaching for the nearest chocolate biscuit, or popping out for a cheeky drink or two followed by a bacon sandwich with extra mayo. Haha!
But seriously, if you have a business and you want your business to grow (and let’s be honest, who doesn’t?), then January is a great time to set a business goal. I’m pretty sure that we all have things that we’ve been meaning to complete for some time, but have never quite got round to.
If you’re anything like me, you probably need a gentle shove, or even a really good push, to help you stay motivated and achieve your goals. If so, then there’s nothing like a big dose of accountability. Yes, I know that sounds a little scary but the truth is if you really want to complete that goal of yours, enhance your business and help it grow, then maybe this is just what you need.
Here’s what I propose – I’ll tell you mine, if you tell me yours…. Who’s in?
Okay, if you’re still reading I’ll assume that you’re in so don’t forget to comment below with your goal and add in a deadline too. Let’s do this… together! 🙂
My New Year’s Business Goal
As some of you might know I’ve been in the SEO industry for a long time (over 15 years) and set up my business SEO+ about 5 years ago. I’m hugely passionate about all things SEO and love to help businesses grow, especially small local businesses. I love data and interpreting it in order to make the right decisions – yes, I’m a little bit geeky but also very results driven. I work with many different types of businesses throughout the UK and I get a massive kick out of watching our clients’ sites climb up the search engine rankings and their online visibility take off.
However, I have reached the stage where time is the limiting factor; I only have one pair of hands, and there are only so many hours in the day! This means there are only so many businesses that I can work with at any one time. I really hate turning businesses away when I know that I could help them. So here’s what I’ve decided to do:
I will create an SEO course which will help local businesses implement the fundamental SEO strategies. My working title is “The Local SEO 7 Step System to Make YOU Irresistible to YOUR Local Consumers”.
The course will consist of practical step-by-step modules that cover all the essentials. I have a wealth of SEO knowledge and experience that I want to share, but I want it to be easy to understand and actionable so I’m going to break it up into easy-to-follow, bite-sized chunks. And because I really want to help local businesses increase their visibility and grow, I’m also going to set up a Facebook group where I will be available to help, encourage and motivate people as they begin to implement the SEO strategies that I’m going to teach them.
The course materials will be downloadable work sheets and instructional videos. I’ve never actually created a video before and this is way out of my comfort zone! However, I am officially committed to this and you guys all know about it now, so I’ll have to face my fear and do it anyway! This is that accountability thing I was talking about. See how it works?
My deadline will be Monday April 4th 2016 – yikes!
