From chef to SEO consultant: the unexpected story behind SEO+
Cooking was my first passion. Straight out of college, I was working as a chef – until a serious car accident at 20 turned my world upside down. After multiple surgeries and the long road to learning to walk again, everything changed.
That experience gave me a fresh perspective on life. I took time out to travel, spending a year backpacking around Australia, and eventually retrained in tech.
While raising my two daughters, I taught myself HTML and joined a local web company as their in-house marketer. That’s where I stumbled across SEO – back when it was all dial-up internet, dozens of search engines (remember Ask Jeeves?), and most small businesses didn’t even have a website.
But even then, I saw the potential. I was hooked.
I loved how SEO connected people with the businesses that could genuinely help them. I threw myself into learning everything I could, testing, experimenting, and developing an approach rooted in ethics, clarity, and real human connection.
Three years later, I was made unexpectedly redundant. It was a shock – but also a turning point. I had a choice: start something of my own, or miss out on the moments that mattered most with my girls.
That was 2012. That was the start of SEO+.
It hasn’t always been easy, but every step of the journey has shaped what SEO+ stands for today: a thoughtful, no-fluff, results-driven SEO service that puts people first – my clients and their customers.
